Punks for Public Housing

Double Time Touring, Stop The Demo, and 44 Flats United present Punks for Public Housing, a fundraiser for the residents of Naarm’s 44 high-rise public housing towers that the Victorian Labor Government is trying to demolish.
Punks for Public Housing brings together a truly eclectic mix of music—but all with a punk spirit—and features Teaser Pony, FROB, Dragnet, Screensaver, Loose Tooth, Ausecuma Beats, Tongue Dissolver, Banoffee, and a secret headliner you do not want to miss. DJ sets from DJVM, Shouse, and Total Giovanni will keep the dance floor pumping until late into the night.

This festival of music, public awareness, and community resistance will raise vital funds for 44 Flats United, a grassroots collective of current and former public tenants helping organise tower residents to fight the demolition of their homes.
The Victorian Labor Government announced the demolition of all of the state's high-rise public housing towers in 2023, and despite strong community resistance and a Parliamentary Inquiry that calls for an immediate halt to demolition works, it has continued with its plans to tear down the buildings and displace more than 15,000 Victorians. The government intends to lease much of the land on which the towers sit to private developers for as little as $1 a year, while many Australians can barely afford housing as rents and interest rates sky rocket.

Punks for Public Housing is your chance to get involved in this fight by meeting people from the groups fighting the demolition, or just by coming along and having a boogie. Doors open at 4pm and you want to get there early for a chance to win a huge range of prizes in our raffle. Tickets will only be available on the night.
